How Jesus Reigns In A Person's Life

Someone is saved from sin and Hell by believing in Jesus Christ, which means receiving Him as Lord and as Savior. If Jesus is your King, what does that look like? It is submission to Jesus Christ by obedience to His Word. We follow Jesus Christ by heeding what He said in His Word. For that to occur, someone must be under His Headship in the church. As I wrote last week here, Jesus is the Head of the church, which is His assembly. The New Testament was written to churches. Christ is obeyed or submitted to in the church under His leadership, which is found in pastors, the God-ordained, chosen leaders of a church. The pastor teaches and preaches the Word of God to a church. The pastor does that in the assemblies of the church, so the people need to be there to receive it. It also occurs through small groups and one-on-one. All of this builds up the members of the church. Each one is edified or grows, matures, is strengthened, in order to be obedient to the Word of God. If someone is not learning the Word of God from the pastor and then other mature members of the church, then he is not following Christ. Saved people follow Christ. They are saved by receiving Jesus as the Christ. He is not King in some arbitrary fashion, but by our actually obeying Him. Someone in the church learns what Jesus says and then does it in the church. This is being obedient to Jesus in church things, in home things, and in work things. The Bible shows how to live for Christ at church, in the home, and at work. This is how Jesus reigns in a person’s life.
