Be a Giving Person

Natural thinking says that when you give, you have less. But spiritual thinking says that when you give, you have more. The reason is because God blesses giving. Jesus told His disciples that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). Giving is to be by faith. We give because it is right to give. We give because God gives to us. We give because we want to be like Christ.

We, first of all, give to God by way of tithes and offerings. The Lord loves a cheerful giver, and the Lord blesses a faithful giver. This would include missions giving. We, second of all, give to others: “that he may have to give to him that needeth” (Eph. 4:28).

When you give, God will take care of you. Listen to the encouraging exhortation of Christ: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (Lk. 6:38). The way the Lord gives back is abundant, lavish, and completely praise-worthy. The Lord says in Malachi 3:10, “Prove me now herewith” that He will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that is beyond what you can contain. Do you want the windows of heaven opened for you? Do you want the Lord’s blessing? Be a giving person.
