The Good God Works

The difficulties we go through as believers come with a promise: that all things work together for good to them that love God. We are familiar with Romans 8:28, and we love Romans 8:28. In the moment, we may not see how all things work together for good, but by faith we know that they do.

Overall, God uses the situations in our lives to conform us to the image of Christ. Whatever the ordeal, God is at work sanctifying us. That gives us comfort. Whether the situation is a trial or a chastisement, whether it is a step of greater faith or an act of simple obedience, God works and God comforts.

That comfort reassures us that God loves us and has a plan for us. It also encourages us that we can live for Him and do His will. Let that comfort strengthen you, and then take that same comfort God gives you and comfort another brother or sister in their time of need.

This is what Paul said in II Corinthians 1:4: "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." If God has helped you, and He has, you can share the comfort from your trials with others. Doing this shows another way that all things work together for good for believers.
