For Our Sins

When Jesus died on the cross, He died for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2 says, “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” Jesus satisfies God’s wrath for our sins when He died for our sins (cf. I Cor. 15:3). Think of that: He died for our sins (plural). How many sins is that?
When Jesus asked the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane if it be possible to let the cup pass from Him, He was speaking of the cup of God’s wrath for our sins. Jesus willingly drank that cup—all of it! Think of that: He died for all of our sins, in every degree and in totality, so that salvation would be available to all who place their faith in Him. Every sin can be forgiven.
Jesus willingly took every one of our sins in His body and was crucified for those sins. Furthermore, the Father was pleased with His sacrifice, and the resurrection proved it (Rom. 1:4). Now, Jesus sits at the right hand of God ready to impute His righteousness to all who believe in Him (Rom. 4:25).
Salvation is available to all men. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the grave are also available to all men. What is left in order to be saved? “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
