The Certainty of Uncertainty

So many things about life are uncertain, and we certainly live in uncertain times. We don't know what our future physical health will be; we don't know how government decisions will personally affect us; we don't know how the economy or our personal finances will hold up. We don't know what tomorrow will bring, but the Lord does.

What we can't do is worry about tomorrow. Jesus taught His disciples in Matthew 6 that it does no good to take thought for tomorrow: "What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or, Wherewithall shall we be clothed." These basics of life that catapult people into a frenzy if they are lacking, Jesus said that our heavenly Father knows that we have need of them. Everything is under His control.

What we can't do is worry, but what we can do is pray, and we can seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness. The Bible says, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" (I Pet. 5:7). Take your cares to the Lord in prayer. He knows your need, and He will supply according to His will. The other thing we can do is to do right. Prioritize obeying what the Bible says. Put that above everything else. Doing what you know the Bible says is trusting the Lord and not leaning on your own understanding. That pleases God.

When you put the Lord first in your thinking and in your actions, He will take care of you. He will provide. You can trust Him. He is a good God. He loves you, and we know that He is working all things together for your good.
