His Grace by Faith

The Apostle Paul struggled with a “thorn in the flesh” for quite some time. Some think the “thorn” was an oozing eye problem, but Paul calls it “the messenger of Satan to buffet me” (II Cor. 12:7). The “thorn in the flesh” could have been a person who antagonized Paul severely. Each time Paul prayed for the removal, the Lord said, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (II Cor. 12:9).

The Lord’s grace is the key to all of our struggles and trials. By His grace, we can endure. By His grace, we can prevail. By His grace, we can glorify Him. God’s grace is available, but how do you access it? How does it come to you to strengthen you?

Faith. Hebrews 10:38 teaches, “the just shall live by faith.” As we place our complete confidence in God by believing His Word, we then act in obedience. Trusting the Lord to obey His Word is living by faith. When we do, we please God (Heb. 11:6). We then can overcome the opposition the world, the flesh, and the devil by faith.

And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (I Jn. 5:4). Let me encourage you and challenge you: place your faith in God and in His Word. Take Him at His Word. He always does what He says He will do. He never changes. His faithfulness is great. There is no shadow of turning with Him. The Lord will give you His grace and will strengthen you to do His will as you live by faith.
